Big big to everyone who joined us for our International Day of Older Persons (IDOP) Zingalong (yup, coined a new word for Zoom+Singalong!). Was good to see familiar and new faces. Thanks to Lily of SeniorsAloud for sharing about IDOP.
Hope you all had a fun vocal (and some physical) workout! For this round of the Satu Suara program, we explored songs from a book entitled “Thirty-six Best Loved Songs of Malaysia and Singapore” which was compiled by Aisha Akbar who worked as a music producer in Radio Singapore in the 60s. The book was first published in 1966 and is a collection of folk songs in Malay.
Songs we explored included: 1) Kopi Susu 2) Geylang Si Paku Geylang 3) Lenggang Kangkong 4) Burung Kakak Tua 5) Suriram 6) Katak Lompat 7) Ikan Kekek 8) Dayong Sampan 9) Nona Nona 10) Rasa Sayang Eh With some extra time on hand, we also sang: 11) Getaran Jiwa 12) Setia 13) Malaysia Oh Tanahair Ku 14) Tanah Pusaka 15) Sejahtera Malaysia Ribuan TERIMA KASIH to everyone who sang with us; in-person at Harmony Hall, over Zoom and also on FB Live. 12 Sept 2020:
